All Black Outfit for Fall

Happy Monday, friends!!! I hope you had a nice weekend. Today I’m styling an all black outfit for fall and breaking it down to show you how I put it together.

I love an all black outfit. It’s so chic and sophisticated and a little mysterious. Plus, I tend to have a lot of black in my wardrobe, so I can almost always pull an all black outfit together at the last minute when I don’t know what else to wear.

AllSaints bomber jacket (S) (budget option) // Treasure & Bond sweater (M) // Frame Le Slim Raw Hem Palazzo (29) (budget option) // Sam Edelman boots (8) // Hammitt crossbody // similar hoop earrings // Evereve necklace // VE bracelet // YSL sunnies (similar for less)

These Frame Le Slim Raw Fray Hem Palazzo Jeans were the starting point for this outfit. I have a ton of blue denim right now, so I’ve been looking to add a black pair in a more modern silhouette, and I like how these are cut close through the hips and bottom and widen ever-so-slightly from hip to hem.

The raw hem adds a subtle element of texture to the look and also makes the jeans easy to shorten if you want. Plus, the washed black denim has some subtle sandblasting to the thigh area, making them far more interesting than a pair of flat black jeans or pants, especially for a monochromatic outfit.

Bomber jackets are having a moment right now, but they’re also a classic style that you can keep for years. Mine is the AllSaints Orten from the #NSale, so I got a really good deal on it. I love the minimalistic design and the luxe black leather, but if you’re looking for a similar option for less, Quince has a washed leather bomber for under $200, and this vegan leather version is only $40 right now at Gap Factory.

I always try to include a mix of textures when I wear a monochromatic look, so I chose a simple crewneck sweater as my base layer. The knitwear softens the hardness of the leather, creating a balanced look that is both approachable and chic. It was a warm day, so I went with short sleeves, but when it gets colder, I have several long sleeve options in my closet to choose from. I picked up this Vince cashmere crewneck when it was on sale a few weeks ago, or a cashmere v-neck is always a nice option.

For accessories, I wore a pair of chunky silver hoops and a mixed metal 3-strand necklace. I also grabbed this cool connected cobra bracelet set that I just got in from Victoria Emerson. These pieces add some shine to the look and relate to the silver zipper on the jacket. I also wore a black belt with silver hardware.

I like wide leg jeans with a bit of a heel, especially at this longer length, and I feel like booties balance the leather bomber better than a pair of pumps. I first grabbed my black leather booties, but then decided to go with a suede pair since the jacket is leather, and I wanted to add another texture to the monochromatic look.

These Sam Edelman pointed toe booties with the skinny heel are from last year, and I found them for a great price at Nordstrom Rack. They’re very comfortable and still right on trend. If you need a pair like this, I would definitely recommend these.

Finally, this Hammitt VIP Fold Over Crossbody with the gunmetal hardware seemed like a good choice for a bag, although this would have been a good opportunity to add a pop of color or pattern. Maybe next time…

And here’s one more bonus picture. This time I threw my jacket over my shoulders. I won’t lie, it feels rather awkward. Maybe it’s because it’s kind of slippery inside, but it didn’t stay put very well. Anyway! It’s another option when you want to amp up your look.

While this outfit is entirely made up of black pieces, each one brings a different tone and texture to the look so that each one is visible, and together they create cohesive look that is anything but boring.

How about you? Do you like a monochromatic look? If you don’t wear black, you could create a similar outfit with just about any other neutral color.
